Turkey Lacrosse Wants Moore Head Coach
Turkey Lacrosse is excited to announce the appointment of a new head coach. Thomas Moore of West Virginia will take the leading reigns for the Turkish National Team as it returns to the world stage at the World Games this July in Denver.
Thomas joined Turkey Lacrosse for the Turkish National Team tryouts and the Mediterranean Friendship Games (the annual match between the Turkish National Lacrosse Team and the Israeli National Lacrosse Team) as the Offensive Coordinator, and is now being promoted to the head coaching position.
Thomas established many close connections with the players on the team while he was in Turkey – he even proposed to his girlfriend (and now fiancé) while he was there for the Turkey Lacrosse Open in September of 2013.
“Promising is an understatement,” remarks Thomas in response to a question asking him how promising Team Turkey looks for the World Games. “We have excellent and highly qualified players that are going to represent Turkey with pride and determination. There is no limit to what we can accomplish in Denver. Regardless of the outcomes of our games, the players will gain valuable experience to be taken back to the Republic of Turkey.”
Thomas’ goal for the Turkish National Team is to be at the top of the list when it comes to the newly formed international teams, or higher, when it is attainable. He has a deep commitment to the members of the team, as well as the country of Turkey. Thomas has been hard at work learning Turkish so he can communicate better on field.
The Turkish National Team squares off against Costa Rica, Poland, and the Czech Republic in the Grey division this July in Denver.
